Five Signs That It’s Time To Invest In A New Bathroom

It’s likely the first room you go in in the morning and the last one before you go to bed, so it’s important that your bathroom is a place that you enjoy spending time.

On the other hand, if your bathroom fills you with dread, and makes you want to be in and out as quickly as possible, it might be time for a remodel.

Here are five signs which you should be on the lookout for which would suggest that you should think about a new bathroom.

Excessive wear and tear

Obviously, as one of the most used rooms in the home, your bathroom is bound to be subjected to some wear and tear.

However, there does come a point where something has to be done, for example, if your tile grout is flaking or mould or moisture damage are emerging. (For more information about the dangers of damp and mould head to the NHS website).

While these are obviously not going to make the bathroom look very nice, they could also potentially be hazardous, so it’s doubly important to get sorted.

Changing needs

We find that one of the most popular reasons for remodelling a bathroom is due to changing family circumstances.

For example, young families with children will need to rework their bathroom to accommodate the newer additions to their family, adding more space and storage and usually a large bath if they don’t already have one.

On the other hand, a new bathroom might be necessary for an elderly homeowner with reduced mobility who find it a bit harder getting in and out of the bath and might benefit from a walk-in shower or bath.

Functionality

While the aesthetics of your bathroom are important, it’s the functionality which must always come first.

These sort of issues usually arise from the decisions of the previous owner, but rather than putting up with them, why not do something about them?

For example, maybe the toilet is too close to the bath, or maybe you have to really squeeze through a tiny gap to get into the shower in the first place?

You’d be surprised at some of the dysfunctional bathrooms out there, especially in smaller homes!

Outdated style

Sometimes, a room just needs a bit of a facelift, especially if it hasn’t been touched for quite a few years.

Styles and tastes quickly change over the years, and sometimes the room can really benefit from a little change.

If you’re still putting up with a bright pink bath or flowery wallpaper from the previous owners, don’t stand for it anymore and stamp your own mark on the room!

Even simple changes such as the fixtures, the wallpaper or even the shower curtain can make a big change to the style of your bedroom, and hopefully better reflect your own personality.

Poor lighting

When you’re getting ready in the morning, the last thing that you want is poor lighting to make things even more difficult.

Good lighting is crucial in the bathroom, and it can be as simple as adding a couple of new fixtures or as extravagant as installing a skylight.

The bathroom should always be a bright and well-lit space, and according to this post from kbbdaily.com it should be dimmable so that you can create different moods depending on the time of day and who is using the bathroom.
